Melbourne Ballet Academy Presents The Nutcracker | Performance Announcement

Melbourne Ballet Academy presents,
The Nutcracker

This year, Melbourne Ballet Academy will be presenting an adaptation of the E.T.A. Hoffman story; ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King’ - a story popularised by the famous ballet choreographed by George Balanchine.

After 2019’s successful season of “Red Riding Hood", MDC Artistic 
Director, Alfie Scalia, will once again be directing this year's end of year ballet performance. 
Melbourne Ballet Academy's retelling of The Nutcracker will take audiences on a wondrous adventure through Clara's dream world. With a beautiful and iconic composition by the incomparable Tchaikovsky and performed by the brilliant and talented MBA students, this performance of The Nutcracker is sure to be spectacular. 

Rehearsals will be starting, Saturday 24 July
Please make sure that your child is fully committed to rehearsals and to let us know when your child is needing to be absent. There will not be time to re-teach work set from the week before.

Cast announcement will be made once auditions have been run. Details for what each class/age level is participating in will also be listed in the cast announcement.

Under 5 Ballet (Pre-Primary): Saturdays 9.45 - 10.30am
*Students will be preparing a routine for
MDC's End Of Year Showcase DEC 18

*Please note students will be called upon to rehearse with the full school on a few Saturday's closer to the performance date.

*Under 5 Students will not be performing in MBA's The Nutcracker. Tickets to the show are free for the Under 5 students to come and watch and to be inspired for when they are old enough to perform in the story ballets.

SATURDAY BALLET STUDENTS

Rehearsals Commencement Date: Saturday 24 July

Under 7 Ballet (Grade 1): Saturdays 9.00 - 9.45am
Under 9 Ballet (Grade 2): Saturdays 9.00 - 9.45am
Under 12 Ballet (Grade 3): Saturdays 9.45 - 10.45am

*Please note students will be called upon to rehearse with the full school on a few Sunday's closer to the performance date.

Attire: Navy leotard, ballet stockings, ballet shoes, Pointe shoes, half tutu, ballet bun
*Auditions are compulsory for all Associate level students. All other students in the above categories are welcome and encouraged to audition.

*Students will not be able to audition if NOT in full uniform, shoes including hair net and pins.
