Theatre Arts are proud to present a new and exciting performing arts program for 2017. Designed to encapsulate all forms of theatre, the new program will present 3 different performance opportunities throughout 2017, each performance based around a different style of theatre.

LUIGI LUCENTE

Luigi Lucente is a diverse and dynamic young leading man – constantly in demand across stage and screen.  
Luigi played the leading role of Eddie Birdlace in the Australian Premiere of DOGFIGHT (Neil Gooding Productions) at the Hayes Theatre Company, his performance earning much critical acclaim. In 2014 Luigi garnered notable attention as Leo Frank in the Australian Professional Premiere of Jason Robert Brown’s PARADE (The Collective), earning a 2014 TheatrePro Best Actor in a Musical Nomination. Luigi also spent 2014 performing in the 40th Anniversary Australian tour of Richard O’Brien’s THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (Ambassador Theatre/GFO), often performing the role of Brad.
He has appeared as Pippin in PIPPIN (Magnormos – 2013 TheatrePro Best Actor in a Musical Nomination), Leon Czolgosz in ASSASSINS (Watch This), Jamie in THE LAST FIVE YEARS (Theatreworks), WICKED (GFO), JERSEY BOYS (Newtheatricals/Dodgers) and GUYS & DOLLS (Ambassador/Donmar). Luigi was also a grand finalist in the 2011 ANZ TRUSTEES ROB GUEST ENDOWMENT.
Other stage appearances include STEPHEN SCHWARTZ - IN CONVERSATION, TWISTED BROADWAY, THE SONGS OF CY COLEMAN & AN EVENING WITH LANCE HORNE. In addition to his extensive concert work, Luigi also spent time touring as the Tenor soloist for the VICTORIAN CONCERT ORCHESTRA. Screen credits include key roles in the US mini series THE PACIFIC, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THAT GUY, NEIGHBOURS and the upcoming feature film MORMON YANKEES.
Also an avid musician and songwriter, in 2014 Luigi created a unique one-man cabaret entitled JIM MORRISON: KALEIDOSCOPE. Directed by Nicholas Christo, it features Luigi himself at the piano as the show journeys through the mind of the infamous front-man of The Doors. KALEIDOSCOPE has played to sell out audiences and rave reviews across the country. 
Luigi has just completed playing the role of Tony in WEST SIDE STORY for Neil Gooding’s Packemin Productions at the Riverside Theatre in Sydney and will shortly play the iconic Jonathan Larson in TICK,TICK…BOOM (Pursued by Bear) at Chapel Off Chapel.

BERNARD ANGEL

A graduate of WAAPA, Bernard’s first credits were on TV in Blue Heelers and as Ernesto in the ABC/BBC coproduction of Noah and Saskia. On stage Bernard was in the Australian tour of My Fair Lady (2007), the original Australian cast of Jersey Boys as Joe Pesci and later a Frankie Valli alternate, An Officer and a Gentleman and most recently Bernard has just finished the Australian tour of The Lion King performing the roles of Timon, Pumbaa, Zazu and Ed throughout. Bernard has featured in ad campaigns for Target, BUPA and RACV.  Bernard has continued training over the years at the Howard Fine Acting School, Gary May Voice Studios and as a writer at AFTRS

Daniel Ryan
