A morning of fun and activities before the day of dance classes begins.
What is Presentation Day?
To celebrate a fantastic year of dance at Melbourne Dance Centre, we would like to invite all Melbourne Dance Centre students to join us for a fun afternoon of celebrations and presentations.
Food and drink will be provided.
All students in attendance will receive awards for performance and class participation, with some other special awards and scholarships being awarded also.
We look forward to seeing you there!
What is Curtains Up?
DanceArts United's end of year spectacular performances! Held at the Clocktower Centre, this is a dance performance that is dynamic, highly energised, and sure to entertain.
With a vast range of styles on display including jazz, hip hop and contemporary, singing, it makes for fast paced, adrenalin pumping entertainment.

Open Mic is an opportunity for each member of Melbourne Vocal Academy to showcase their talents within the intimate setting of the MDC Theatre and perform in front of a live audience. The performers will perform pop tracks as soloists as well as in duos and small groups.

The Competition Squad Showcase is an opportunity for Competition Squad students to perform in front of an audience as well as their fellow team members before competing in and around Melbourne. It is also a chance for everyone to come in and see what the Competition Squads are up to and the work they have developed throughout the year.

The Theatre Arts Young Artists Program students will each be presenting a short individual piece that they, with the assistance of their musical directors Callum Warrender & Daniel Ryan, have put together. Through a monologue and song, each performer hopes to tell you a small and personal story that will act like a hand selected postcard of their experiences.

Melbourne Dance Centre's Open Day is an annual event and our first
performance for 2022.
Featuring performances from all of the MDC Academies (DanceArts United, Melb Ballet Academy, Theatre Arts, Melbourne Vocal Academy & the Associate Performance Academy), all MDC members will come together to give short sneak previews into the kind of work each class has been building toward.
The day is laid out into 3 separate shows separated by age group, with each class presenting a short performance demonstration held in a concert style environment.
Open Day is a great opportunity for all MDC Academy students to get in front of an audience before other in-house and external performances and competitions commence for the year. It is also a wonderful way for all MDC Academy students to meet and get to know and each other, as well as being a chance for parents/guardians, friends and family to come and see what the classes have been learning, and to get a glimpse at what the various academies, classes and levels have to offer.
It's going to be a fun and inspiring day! We hope you are looking forward to this year's Open Day as much as we are!

Please note, having a class in it's academies uniform is an important tool in training to encourage team building, comraderie and discipline. (Students not in correct uniform and shoes will not be able to perform)
